homemade Christmas gifts part 2
Monday.....goal for this week- finish all of my homemade gifts. December arrives in just a couple of days and I don't like to be that girl that gives her gifts late. Especially since they are homemade, mostly edible. I want my loved ones to be able to enjoy during the holiday season. Sure Christmas treats are good after it's all said and done, but they are even more yumm-o before!

Candy-Cane Marshmallows {Martha Stewart}
This will go fabulous with the homemade cocoa mix I'm also making. I'm filling & decorating jars with the mix to include in my gift baskets. Each jar will have the directions attached. I'm thinking of cutting the marshmallows with cookie cutters into cute little Christmas shapes.
Hot Cocoa Mix
2 cups nonfat dry milk
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
1/2 cup non-dairy creamer
1 dash of salt
miniature marshmallows, optional
Combine ingredients and mix well. Store in an airtight container.
Yield 4 cups mix
To make: Add 3 to 4 tablespoons of mix to your favorite mug and fill with boiling water. Stir to blend. Add some marshmallows or cream.

as we grow up
As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back....

Since I've been home visiting with my parents, I've had the chance to express my decor and interior design ideas with them. My father built and remodeled homes for a living growing up. I think I get it all from him. Earlier this week we silently "fought" over the creation of a better bench in the entryway. Naturally, both loving crafty things, we both had to claim some of the effort.
As I mentioned in my last post, this is my parents retirement home they dreamed about for years building once they had an empty nest. My father built a large shop matching the home's exterior beside it. The bottom part is his shop and a place for storage of many things. Now the upstairs.....this is where I get a wee bit over excited with ideas in creating a livable space. A little getaway, if you will. It's large enough to put a good sized bed, and a place to lounge.
I am loving this idea:
